Wednesday April 18th Session

7:00-7:45 am

Movement with Genevieve Dunn, MA, R-DMT, Dance Movement Therapist with the Hancock Center, Madison, WI

Room: Pa Kaloka Courtyard

Join us in a Chacian Circle for some fun and stress-relieving movement. We’ll move together as a group using the work of Marian Chace, one of dance/movement therapy’s pioneers. She utilized movement, imagery, and symbolism to encourage group movement. It really is a lot of fun. This is about moving according to your comfort level. Absolutely no dance or movement experience necessary. This self-care activity is inclusive of all physical abilities.

 Lunch break (12:45-1:30pm so you have time to purchase lunch on site at concessions stand offered)

Tai Chi and Chi Kung: The Art of Approaching Effortlessness with Dani Riggs

Room: Pa Koloka Courtyard

In our work and in our personal lives we are confronted by trauma and our patterned responses to trauma. Tai Chi and Chi Kung not only help to build our energy(chi) and resilience they give us a new embodied way to approach our lives and trauma. Using a gentle but powerful approach to movement we learn to move with relaxation and effortlessness.

Arts and Crafts with Lorena Grudier, MSW, from The Children’s Alliance of Hawaii

Room: Exhibit Hall/311

Play with colored tissue paper, jar, tea light, and glue! We’ve brought all the materials needed for you to create a colorful lantern. Feel free to bring your lunch. No skill or artistic ability is needed. It’s a wonderful way to relax and enjoy new friends.

Thursday April 19th Sessions

Meditation/Imagery/Journaling with Mary Jo Barrett

Room: 301A

Together we will participate in a morning self-care ritual that will enable us all to use our entire brain and body to build a better day.  Through meditation, guided imagery and journaling we will create a practice that you can use each and every day to build a better day, a better year, and a better healthier energized you.  Please bring paper and pen.

Rise and Shine Yoga with Mara Pike

Room: Pa Koloka Courtyard

Join Mara J for a Rise and Shine yoga class!!! We will flush out any sluggish energy to ground you and prepare you for your day. We will give your joints an opportunity for mobility and elasticity. We will play with simple, accessible postures and movements you can use in your daily routines. No prior experience required. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Come with an empty belly – coffee and breakfast can come after!

Experiential options available in the Exhibit Hall:

Mara j will be available in the exhibit hall to share Chair Yoga for Wellness. Posture plays a fundamental role in overall wellness. Yoga can be done anywhere, even in a chair! Take a few minutes to learn a practical way to fit self-care into your day. You will be given a sequence guide to take with you.
