21st International Summit on Violence, Abuse and Trauma

I am overwhelmed by the magnificent award bestowed upon me by IVAT. This is an enormously generous gift for which thanks are insufficient. I will take the experience to my grave. What an unforgettable moment! Thank you all so very much and especially, Dr. Kaplan for nominating me. You have all taken my breath away.

The conference was outstanding in every way. The learning experience, the quality of the presenters, the infinite amount of excellent information stemming from the greats from a global perspective were all unsurpassed. I just can’t say enough about the entire experience. I have already begun to network to try to bring Mildred Muhammed to the Center for Disaster Mental Health in 2017 and George, your videographer, is interesting in creating a documentary about the Fort Hood Massacre.

First, I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to present. It was very gratifying and I think it went well. It was really rewarding to meet people in person whom I only knew through their work. Finally, the conference was terrific – every presentation I went to was excellent, not a wasted moment.
— Madelyn Simring Milchman, Ph.D
I was also pleased to participate in your very impressive, very well organized conference. What an amazing organization, with many committed people to address violence and trauma.

14th Hawai`i International Summit on Preventing, Assessing and Treating Trauma Across the Lifespan

It’s such a positive, collaborative, exciting environment! Everyone is sharing knowledge, running into old friends, spending time with colleagues, meeting new people and making new connections, and really going to the conference with the mindset of getting something out of it to bring back to their personal lives and their work. This is such a holistic, well-rounded conference with so many facets, an excellent track system, lots of focus on cultural competence, and amazing people putting the whole thing together. Kudos!!!
I really enjoyed the emphasis on self-care, the assortment of tracks that would appeal to everyone, and the quality of the speakers who were all well prepared, professional, and knowledgeable.
Cultural experiences and understanding of how victimization affects all cultures. The overall attitude of presenters and attendees was great.
Embracing/Welcoming Informative Staff and presenters Well rounded topics for the region and cultures presented
Great speakers, administrative staff. Loved the book sales!!! Thank you for the refreshments/drinks - that was most appreciated also. Ability to register online early was great.
