30-Hour Victim Advocate Trauma-Informed IVAT Specialty Certification

IVAT/FVSAI provided training to 6 internationally based US Air Force units of professionals serving victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. This training provided the 30-hour IVAT Trauma Specialty Certification Course to SexualAssault Prevention and Response (SAPR) as well as VictimAdvocate staff and other affiliated professionals.  The six locations are: Honolulu, Hawaii (10.3-6.16); South Korea(10.25-28.17) , Yokota, Japan (10.31-11.3.16); Alaska (11.15-18.16; Misawa, Japan (12.6-9.16); and Guam (12.15-18.16).

The 30-hour IVAT Trauma Specialty Certification Course focuseson domestic and sexual violence dynamics, Adverse Childhood Experiences, communication and supportive listening techniques,intervention and assessment skills, vicarious and secondary trauma, risk assessment and dangerousness, historical socio-cultural perspectives of violence and abuse, intergenerational transmission of trauma and abuse, understanding trauma-informed practices, sexual assault/rape trauma syndrome, cultural context of trauma, empowerment and healing, suicide assessment and intervention, bystander intervention, crisis intervention approaches and techniques, and ethical issues.

The format of this training can be revised to meet the audience needs and goals.

IVAT/FVSAI provides trainings on a wide range of topics within the frameworks of trauma, violence and abuse.  IVAT/FVSAI has 4 Specialty Certifications; These certifications are Trauma Care Provider, Domestic Violence Offender Treatment Provider, Child Custody Evaluation, and Child and Adult Advocacy Studies Training.

IVAT is an Approved National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) by the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA).
