Chelsea White, MSW

Chelsea is a Special Projects & Training Assistant for IVAT. She received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Peace & Justice Studies from Michigan State University (MSU). Her passion for working with and advocating alongside trauma-impacted folks began during this time. She completed her social work field placement at MSU Safe Place, the on-campus relationship violence and shelter program, and volunteered in Kara Tepe refugee camp (Lesvos, Greece) through a collaborative internship project with MSU and Movement on the Ground. Upon graduating, she worked in direct services for unaccompanied refugee minors/unaccompanied children, refugees, and other displaced people with Bethany Christian Services and the International Rescue Committee.

Chelsea obtained her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver with a concentration in Organizational Leadership & Policy Practice. She believes community collaboration and action are vital in creating a world free from violence, abuse and trauma, and is looking forward to building community here in San Diego.
