Jessica Mueller, Psy.D.

Jessica Mueller, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and holds registration (currently inactive) in New Zealand. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Forensic Psychology in 2017 from the California School of Forensic Psychology at Alliant University, San Diego.

Dr. Mueller currently serves as the Director of Forensic Training at the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT), where she has also contributed to the publications and dissemination department since 2014. She has been the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment, and Trauma since 2026 and was previously the Co- Editor-in- Chief of the Journal of Family Trauma, Child Custody, and Child Development. She is actively involved in supervising students in both clinical practice, forensic assessment, and research. She regularly provides professional training and presents research at national and international conferences.

Dr. Mueller has extensive experience in correctional settings across California and New Zealand (2015–2025), where she has held roles including clinical psychologist and Principal Advisor on Mental Health and Addictions. Her clinical training includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Dr. Mueller taught at San Diego State University (SDSU) in the Forensic Psychology Certificate program from 2018 until 2024. She maintains a research lab at SDSU, supporting and mentoring students in research methods. She has been an adjunct faculty member of the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant University, San Diego, since 2025.
