IVAT 2024 Annual Report

In 2024, together with our team and community, we celebrated our 39th year as an Institute. The Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute (FVSAI), as we were originally known, was founded in 1984 by Robert Geffner, PhD, ABN, ABPP. In 1991, the Institute became a registered non-profit 501(c)3 organization to deal with family violence and sexual assault issues, one of the first to pair the two. It gradually expanded its scope to include child, teen and elder maltreatment. In 1999, the Institute relocated to San Diego and, in 2006, continued its work doing business as IVAT - the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma.
